Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is right around the corner, and the past few weeks have brought much excitement for fans. Lucasfilm recently set the world premiere date, and just yesterday it was announced that U.S. moviegoers would be able to pre-order their tickets on November 28, 2016. Meanwhile, the marketing campaign continues in full force, with a bevy of TV spots showcasing all the action, humor, and drama viewers would want out of a Star Wars film.
Though Rogue One features the return of famed villain Darth Vader, the new characters have been the primary focus of the advertising. As the spinoff’s release date draws closer, audiences are learning more than ever about heroine Jyn Erso and her compelling backstory, but she’s not going to be able to steal the Death Star plans by herself. She has a full team of Rebels to lend a helping hand, and some of those allies are the subject of new images.
Empire had two new photos from the film, the first of which depicts pilot Bodhi Rook interacting with some shady-looking figures on what is most likely Jedha. One of these is Edrio Two Tubes, a mercenary who desires to strike back against the Imperials. Per his character description from San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Edrio is aligned with Saw Gerrera’s resistance group. It’s plausible that Bodhi is looking to recruit more people to the Alliance’s cause in this scene. Check it out below:
Yen told Empire that Rogue One was by far the grandest canvas he’s worked on in his career, saying, “I have never been on sets with so much resource.” Disney and Lucasfilm clearly do not take their tentpoles lightly and want to make sure they do everything they can to deliver a visually-stunning and epic big screen experience for the holiday season. Rogue One seems to have some of the most intense set pieces in the franchise to date, but the series has always been more about the characters coming together to overcome impossible odds. It looks like director Gareth Edwards has tapped into that aspect, meaning Rogue One is poised to be a rewarding trip to the galaxy far, far away.
